WELCOME TO OUR NEW WEBSITE!! we're finally up and running just
in time for the new year and the new album (which we're very
excited about, by the way). you, our faithful website visitors,
probably noticed a preview of the brand new album cover on the
home page. as you can see, the "something more" album title
supporters lost that battle. we and our almighty record company
decided that "drops of jupiter" had a bit more depth and longevity.
thanks for your opinions, though. we did read your comments.
anyway, we hope you like the new site. there will be some small
changes/fixes along the way. let us know what you think on the
message page. we plan to stay very active with this site updating
photos more regularly and stuff like that. enjoy. have a safe and happy holiday season and we'll look forward to seeing everybody on tour in the spring.

Thursday, December 8th
today is the anniversary of the death of one our greatest contemporary songwriters, Mr. John Lennon...just thought we'd point that out, so we can all pay our respects to a great man and his surving family. everybody misses you, John.anyway, we just got back from a trip to chicago for a show on saturday night with Vertical Horizon and Everclear at the beautiful chicago theatre. we heard that the sound wasn't great in that room, but it sure was a beautiful place! we had a good time and raised a bunch of money for the children's hospital, so we're feeling pretty good about the whole thing. thanks to all who attended and gave to the cause. then we flew to new york and performed "Drops of Jupiter" for the entire national sales staff of columbia records. it was really great and everybody seems really excited for the new record. Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith were there. we got to meet them and take some photos with them and listen to four or five new songs from their new release, which sounds awesome. they were super nice guys for huge rock-star- legends. it was cool getting to play a concert in chicago in a beautiful theatre and an honor to perform for the columbia records folks and all, but...AEROSMITH!!! yep, shook their damn hands and everything. U2 were in town playing a small (for them) show at Irving Plaza, but do you think we could get tickets?...nope...tried like hell...guess we're not quite "big" enough yet. Uwho? whatever... mad... but we got to meet Aerosmith! yep...Joe and Steve. we'll probably go over to their house for the holidays or something...have some turkey. they haven't called yet, but they probably will tomorrow... happy holidays everyone. we'll see you next year.
peace and love, train
Friday, the day after Thanksgiving
hi everyone! we kinda lose track of what day it is when we're on break. so, can't remember if we've dropped a line since the fillmore show, but if not....wow, we had an awesome time! it was so good to see all of our old friends and so many other friends who flew in from all corners of the country. and very special thanks to glenn phillips (of toad the wet sprocket) and charlie gillingham (counting crows) for being there and making the night even that much more special. how great was it to have glenn come up for an encore and sing "walk on the ocean" with charlie gillingham playing the accordion! glenn gave us an advance copy of his future solo record and it sounds great, so you Toad fans have that to look forward to. we finally wrapped up our new record. it's going to look something like this: she's on fire, i wish you would, drops of jupiter, it's about you, hopeless, respect, let it roll, something more, whipping boy, getaway and mississippi. "drops of jupiter" will be the first single. you should start hearing it in january with the album due out in february. oh, and don't forget to watch pat sing "love me two times" with the surving members of the Doors this sunday night on VH1 storytellers. he's the first one to sing, so tune in at the top. we'll see some of you in chicago next saturday night along with our good friends Vertical Horizon and Everclear. as for the rest of you, hang in there, happy holidays and we'll see you soon.

we played a show in atlanta saturday night at the variety playhouse to celebrate the release of the 99X acoustic cd, which we are a part of. it was a sold-out event and we had a really great time (even though we hadn't played a show in awhile and might have been just a tad bit rusty). the crowd was great!anyway, we're really looking forward to returning home to san francisco this friday night for a sold-out show at the fillmore. we've got a few surprises in store for that one. oh, and we're seriously considering changing the title of the new record from "Something More" to "Drops of Jupiter". get on our message board (which should be new, improved and much easier to access) and let us know what you think. see ya. train
Sunday, October 1st
we're in atlanta today and tomorrow finishing our record with brendan o'brien and crew. we spent the last two nights in the birmingham, alabama area with shows friday night in montevallo and last night in birmingham. they were both really fun shows for us. last night was a private WRAX radio contest winners show for about 250 people. we played alot of the new album and pat told stories about the songs before we played each of them. turns out the entire new album is all about pat and how all the chicks dig him! and we thought he was deep...anyway, we'll be off the road for most of the rest of the year except for a few shows here and there, but we'll keep in touch occasionally and let you know what we're up to with our time off. we'll be out on tour in full force next year with the release of the new album. we're already making big plans for the new show. the new website should be up and running pretty soon with a new message board (kinda like the old one) and lots of cool stuff, so keep in touch with us and keep your ears open for the Dawson's Creek soundtrack with "respect" on it and the Doors tribute album with our version of "light my fire". look for our new album, "Something More" to be release on February 5th. talk to you soon. train
Wednesday, September 27th
we're in memphis tonight. we had a show at a fairground. it was a good one. quite a few people, nice stage, nice weather... Bonnie was there. our friend Peter Searcy opened. the set list was: eggplant, free, she's on fire, rat, i wish you would, ramble on, respect, i am, something more, train, virginia. encores were light my fire and if you leave.we (charlie, scott, jimmy, rob and crew) had the past two days off in nashville while pat flew to LA to sing with the surviving three Doors members on a VH1 storytellers special that will air in november. he sang "love me two times". we heard from our spies on the inside that it went very well. we all have a day off in memphis tomorrow. everybody has been enjoying the local memphis cuisine. some guys are going to graceland tomorrow and some are going to the movies. we'll all end up at the laundromat at some point. so, we've got two more shows in Alabama friday and saturday before heading to Atlanta to finish the record. we're going to record two more songs, "Drops of Jupiter" (which will probably be the first single) and "Hopeless" and then we're done. we saw the finished version of the dawson's creek soundtrack featuring our new song, "Respect". it looks really good. we heard that show sells alot of soundtrack records internationally, which we're excited about. we get alot of mail from all around the world and we really appreciate it and are trying very hard to get our cd's released worldwide in 2001, so we can come and visit y'all. talk to you soon! train
Friday, September 22nd
we're in Virginia Beach today at an air show. we performed last night in West Springfield, MA at a fair. there weren't a ton of people there, but we had a really good time and hung out for quite awhile after the show. tonight should be interesting. it's at a military base and there are lots of army/navy/airforce type people around. they're america's finest and they're treating us very well. our crew and charlie got to go for a test flight on some stunt planes. complete formations, dives, rolls, stalls, near collisions and all! so anyway, we're watching jim carrey's "man on the moon" on the bus right now, so we've gotta go... talk to you soon. train
