It had not been released yet:( I got one of the first copies sold on the day it came out. (second only to store staff) This is the best album I have heard in a very long time. The music is strong and tight and the lyrics touch the soul. It's tough to pick one but I think my favourite track would have to be "Let It Roll". I am now playing this album non-stop and making everyone around me listen too. Congratulations on a job well done. I look forward to seeing a live show so please come back to Toronto soon. You just rocked on Letterman. I found out about Lee's Palace after the fact:( I wish you great success and thank you for this album.

And every song is so well constructed musically it's unbelievable. Columbia Records knew what they were doing when they put that offer on the CD; no one is going to send the cd back for their money. I hope Train doesn't release anymore singles from the album because it's just to perfect to have any song seem better than the others. They're all incredible.

But most of all, it has to be the realistic lyrics with a sense of rhythm and intonation that is spellbinding. I am always hooked by a lyricist/vocalist that is so distinctive that by merely hearing their voice, there is a sudden sense of reminiscent melancholy...taking you back to a moment that seems so vivid...again. Like a "replay"...so to speak. Pat Monahan's distinctive voice has the same pull for me that I feel when I listen to Dylan, Van Morrison, Steven Tyler..or even Steve Perry---definitive Train. By intimate I mean that my best friend and girlfriend and I were the only ones in attendance that weren't affiliated with the radio station promoting the tour. We drove through the aftermath of a blizzard for 2 hours with no heat to get to the show just because I won tickets (worth all of 1.07 apiece). It was worth it. A couple of years later, Train returned to the Bottleneck to face a sold-out crowd. I got to touch Pat... tell me that's not damn cool. They rocked the place... Truly the best show I've been to and would love to relive it, alas it seems KS or MO isn't on their tour this time around :( Please reconsider Pat and Co. ! Didn't we treat you well?

To may satisfaction train was going to be on. The thing is i fell asleep and woke up just as Pat sang his first note. I was still half asleep but was wide awake in seconds and couldnt fall asleep again for sometime after. Pat was 3 grades behind me in grade school at Our ladys Christian elementry. he was a little twerp (lol). As we got older we were both involved in the Erie Pa. music scene. When he was with local Erie bands Rouges Gallery and X-It I was always in ahh when i saw him play out. His voice was excellent then and is even better now. Its good to see he still calls Erie home. After last nights show he made me become a die hard Train fan. Now i cant wait to drive down to Pittsburgh in May to see Train play at the Pepsi Amphitheter(sp). Rock on Train!!!

A freind of mine who got a ticket said it was Paul Schaeffer who played the piano intro to the song and the band was complimented by a live string section on the Drops of Jupiter single. He said that Pat recreated some of the moves in the DoJ video (flying man, etc.) and that David came out to say "hi" to the guys starting with Rob. It airs toward the end of the show tonight on CBS, so anyone who sees it should post details here immediately!

I usually play some sort of music, on low volume, during a study hall I have duty for. the last few weeks I have played Drops of Jupiter as one of the songs. Have had several students come up to me ask me who sings the song. I know of at least 2 students who bought the record yesterday. Just glad to introduce such a great band to the youth of America. Thanks for putting out some great music in a time when the radio seems to be saturated with "music" that deosn't deserve to be playing in the sewers of New York.

Matter of fact, there is not a train song yet that I can say I don't like. Not all of Train's songs are lucky enough to be that catchy. From my introduction to all of you (including the wonderful Mom & Dad Stafford) at Schubas to the Metro when you played EVERY track from the first album for the very first time (what happened to the video footage shot that night? i never saw it anywhere), you guys have always been very classy to us Chicagoans, and we THANK YOU profusely. I just know that Paul, you have an amazing storytelling ability - one that's never contrived, nor predictable... and the music - it just grooooooooooves with a jazzy, syncopated angst. There is never the impression that you are just singing, but, rather, interpreting and connecting to the hurt, the wonder, the joy and the disillusionment with an intensity that comes from deep within. It doesn't hurt that you're not bad looking either (hopefully, that statement didn't just negate everything I previously said). Who knows if these E-mails actually get to you guys, but if they do - you can know from one lone former reed-playing musician - the album is outstanding!! Now, I must check out the availability of tickets for House of Blues next month!! Thanks for the music - it's such a gift!

The first album was so good that this one had to be great. And it is. It's different from the first one, but I think it sounds excellent and your songs keep getting better, more complex. I already can't hear enough of Getaway. Train has put out two incredibly strong albums, front to back, and that is the best praise of all.

I saw Train the summer the self titled disc came out in a hole in the wall bar in Youngstown OH. Pat, Charlie and the guys stuck around after and were more than gracious enough to sign and bs about life on the road. This album reflects everything I've loved about the band from the get go. Chris - Tue Mar 27 19:18:17 EST 2001 hey - just wanted to add some more comments about the chicago show last night. i had a blast! the venue was a great setting to see the band - i hadn't been there in a long time, and i'd forgotten what a great place it was to go for a concert. i got to say hi to rob (::::waves to rob::::) and i think i met luke (from detroit?) they guys sounded really good, but i think they looked a little worn out. they all had bed-head (except for jimmy, of course) and looked like they'd just been woken up from a before-show nap. but the energy was still all there!! 5 for fighting is a great band - if you ever have the chance to see them, i'd definitely recommend it. i didn't know their music, but i liked every song they played. now i can't wait for the end of may when they really get the new songs working. (not that they weren't already, but you know what i mean. if you don't, nevermind :) now i'm on my way home to see if my tickets and/or my cd ever arrived!

The guys sounded great, "shes on fire" kicked of the show. also nice to hear "heavy". Got to meet the guys after the show, they signed my poster that i tore off the wall :-) Also got a picture with Pat. And got a setlist. Fan appreciation shows are for the fans, the people who won't stop at anything to see their favorite band. I have seen Train many times in Michigan where the club was sold out. Did I get in, yes. A fan would find a way in. Don't be hurt that you didn't get a ticket for this one. I am sure that they will be back in NYC really soon. In the meantime, buy the new CD and wait for some more tour dates to pop up. There are no Michigan dates scheduled, but I am not complaining. I know they will pop up sooner or later. In the meantime, I am working on getting to the DC show in May. Take care and enjoy the new CD.

I even went to the Bowery show in horrible weather, when the place was half full. Some fan appreciation, in order to get tickets, you have to call radio stations, and win tickets. Hey, some Train fans work during the day, and don't have time to keep dialing WPLJ. First Show - Mon Mar 26 16:02:47 EST 2001 Train is the best and Drops of Jupiter may quite possibly be my favorite song of all time and I mean that with all sincerity. Everytime I hear this song everything stops and the volume goes up. What a great song. I remember them playing the song at the Miracle on State Street concert here in Chicago many months ago and I loved it back then. Earlier today I had the pleasure of hearing them play the song on the Mix. They came in to the studio and played that song along with She's on Fire. Both were wonderful acoustic treats to hear first thing in the morning. What a positively awesome band. And to top of the whole thing I was lucky enough to win tickets to come see the show tonight and I am way more than just excited to get there. And now I hear that they will be returning to Chicago in May for another show, which of course I will be at. Thanks for thinking so highly of Chicago as a place you enjoy playing, because I know for a fact that Chicago thinks very highly of you guys. I live in an apartment so they can't leave stuff. I called and had them change the address to my work address. I didn't get to the office at all on Friday - thought nothing of it all weekend. Monday morning comes along and there is a cute little package on my desk at work. What was it you ask?? TWO FREE TRAIN TICKETS TO THE CHICAGO SHOW!!!!!!!! EEEEKKKK!!!!! Confused and excited as shit - I start calling Park West, my sister, my boyfriend, my friend and go online to trainline.com. Come to find my name on a list of people who won tickets! I can't believe it! Plans were made real quick to leave work early and get to Chicago. Hope I make it with time to have a beer before the show!!! YEAH! Here is another story that makes me laugh. Well - All my friends are now hooked. I saw you in Milwaukee, WI last year (Train that is - if YOU actually read this - who knows??). Loved you even more!!! I've pre-ordered and am literally salivating over the little snippits on the site. I can't WAIT to get it. I heard Drops 3 times in a ROW on 3 different radio stations yesterday. It must've been an omen. ;) Anywho, for those of you in the Ohio/Illinois/Kentucky/West Virginia etc. area who are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our Train, I have a show that you seriously need to check out. I think it will curb your appetite for good live music for at least a little while. The band? Oval Opus. Train was a HUGE influence of theirs, and they've often covered them at shows...but their music isn't too shabby either. :) They're playing at Bogart's in Cincinnati on Friday, March 30 with Red Wanting Blue and Genuine Son...and if you're anywhere in the tri-state area, I would recommend not missing it because you'll be kicking yourself when you see them on VH1 and MTV in the upcoming months. They played it at about 8:15ish after Aerosmith-That's even more proof that TRAIN has made it big, and yet they are still down to earth guys!! VH1 also did a little glimpse of the guys before showing the video with clips of "She's on Fire" and of course "Meet Virginia"!! All of the guys looked great-as always!! Throughout the video I was entertained by Pat's always energizing dance moves and dazzling eyes, Jimmy's adorable smile, Rob's new hair at the piano, Scott's humor, and Charlie's appealing looks!! Not only did I like both the bands, but Train did an awesome set. What a great live band. This was my first time seeing them. I also met Nikki Sixx that night. I posted a message on the board a few night ago claiming that Train was leaving their fans feeling unappreciated in Atlanta because the only way to get tickets was through the local radio stations. I left this message on last Friday night. By Sunday afternoon, I had a member of the bands management contacting me apologizing and offering me passes to see Train perform a very private show at Southern Tracks Studios here in Atlanta. (For those who don't know, Southern Tracks is where the band recorded Drops of Jupiter)

It's really just amazing. Am really looking forward to the new record next week. I was wondering if anyone has heard about a limited edition of this CD. The owner of a family owned record store told my that he was getting five of these. He said that it will have an extra song(s)and that major retailers (Walmart, target etc...) will not be getting these. I have known this man for long time and consider him reliabe. They were incredible and I was singing along to almost every song, except for the brand new ones off the new cd. I lost my voice after the show. Olivier - Thu Mar 8 08:15:06 EST 2001 I recently found and ordered pre-ordered a limited edition Drops of Jupiter cd with bounus tracks from CDNow, dunno if it's the same one as listed on the Sam Goody site or not, but CDNow has since taken that link down. I have no idea what the deal is with that cd, or even wheather or not it is still pre-ordered for me since it is now gone from the site. As for One and a Half and Live From Fantasy Studios, they are both promotional CDs so you won't find them in the regular places. One and a Half you used to could buy from this site and at shows, which is where I picked mine up. Fantasy Studios was a radio only cd not made available to the public. It can be found quite often on eBay or online music stores that specialize in imports/promos. I see Fantasy Studios around more than One and a Half, but you should be able to find both if you look hard enough.

I've found 2 confirmed things, and one thing that is REALLY intriguing, but kind of cryptic. First, the sure things: Tower Records is giving autographed booklets to the first 500 orders. Aware (www.awarestore.com ... one of the coolest sites around) is giving away a lyric book with photos to the first 1000. Now that I have a great CD of Train’s Live Radio Show, I’ve heard 4 songs from Drops, and they are ALL as good as any off of the first album. Can’t wait to hear the whole thing. By the way, when Train covers Ramble On, it is one of the best cover tunes I’ve ever heard

I have heard the "drops" single on the radio a few times, and in fact, riding in the car with my friends (we are old, like 30 years old), and asked them if I was hearing part of the song correctly. The part I heard was "Van Halen is overrated", which may or may not be correct. My friends, who were more attached to their mullets than I, were somewhat offended by the suggestion. But am I hearing this correctly? I love the song and think it is great. I really don't give a rats ass about Van Halen and yeah, they probably are overrated. . . but it seems a little brash and unnecesary to bring down someone else in a song no? "I hope neil young will remember, us southern men don't need him around anymore". What is up?

This is Train's site, and one would expect the talk to be about Train. I'd hate though, for people to get a bad impression of Ethan & the Ewox simply because their fans chose to post here regarding the Jacksonville show. I love Train, and when it was announced that they'd be playing in J'ville, I was ecstatic. About a week or so later, friends there in J'ville told me that ads on a local radio station promoting the show were billing Ethan & the Ewox as an opening act. I came here to Train's website, checked the tourdates section, and sure enough the link provided to musictoday.com listed Ethan & the Ewox as opening. If I was ecstatic before, I was about to wet my pants at this point. I've been an Ewox fan since the band started out playing in J'ville's small clubs in 1995, and have followed them closely over the years as they recorded two albums on their own, started playing club gigs on a regional level, and even got some airplay on a few small radio stations in Alabama. I and fans like me have been hoping for a break like this for these guys for years. So when the radio station changed its ads, the Ewox name came off the musictoday.com listing, and the band's regular mailing list update put rumors to rest by saying that they hadn't been selected to open the show, you can imagine that many people felt kinda let down. This should take nothing away from Train. They're a great band who I've loved since I heard their first single on the radio and rushed out and bought the first album. I'm thrilled they're adding themselves to the long list of talented performers to visit my small college hometown. Ewox fans should do nothing so silly as boycott the show. They'd be missing a great live music event featuring a wonderful band, and a great opening act (I visited Will Hoge's site, checked out the mp3s, and can't wait to see them live). However, Train fans here shouldn't get the wrong impression about Ethan & the Ewox. They're a talented band that's not very well known, without a record contract, trying to make it on their own. They're driving from town to town in beat up vans hauling a trailer, playing their music in any club that will book them for anyone who'll listen. I do however know who Train is, and love their music, as I eagerly await the release of their new CD. Please do not take the actions of a few to view the intent of the masses. I feel honored that Train would come to a small state college such as Jacksonville, and hope that all there will show support for the group and welcome them warmly. I wanted to express my most sincere apologies for the actions taken place here. My biggest fear would be that members of Train, or their management would read these comments and decide that visiting this great state is not worth the effort. I beg of you, if you do read this, please understand that there are many more people, not aware of these dealings, nor the negative comments on your board, that truly love your music. These people dwarf Ewox fans in number. I was fortunate enough to attend a private show that Train put on in Birmingham last year to publicize ‘Drops of Jupiter’, and it was the best concert I have ever attended (and I have attended many). Train, keep up the good work, your talent and fresh sound will most assuredly make you even more famous than you are now. And you are always welcome in Alabama, even if no one opens for you.

andy - Mon Mar 5 21:38:15 EST 2001 Your thoughts TRAIN: i bought your 98 release recently, highly recommended to me by a friend. i think your lyrics are excellent, and the cd as a whole is amazing. i listen to alot of music and find it rare to come across a cd that is so good you can listen to the whole thing straight through, and listen to it often! the cd came with a sticker on the front calling it one of the best albums of the year, and i have to say i agree. i can't wait to hear your new cd, and everything else train has done. thanks for the great music. sincerely,
