DC

Just wanted to let you guys know that I am crushed that you're only tour date in the D.C. area (and right outside my office, to make things worse!) is tomorrow and conflicts with my boyfriend's graduation... Come back soon! It's been almost a year since I've had my Train fix! (Wish you were playing at Trax tomorrow night.... :)

melissa

I think she musta been in wacko land......I have seen train MANY MANY times over the past few years(twice on this tour) and they never appear as "glam rockers"...lol same ole band....with more recognition and fame....but still very "normal" and approachable......

labrat - Fri May 18 12:39:11 EDT 2001

Not a new fan

I haven't been to the new bbs since they took down the old one (I miss that format, it was easier to read)
Anyway, Train are the nicest guys ever.
Never had a meeting with them that wasn't funny and totally laid back.
As a friend of a few of their labelmates, I have never heard not a single bad word from ever anyone
ever about them.
They make very good music and deserve much success and respect.
I don't know if I'll stick around this new board though, it's a little hard to muddle through.

Thanks to the guitar tech (2X)

I was at the Chicago show at the Riviera, last night and yes, it was an awesome show;
and yes, I got some cool pictures with that HUGE digital camera afterward; and yes,
as usual, all the guys were very cool.

I would, however like take this opportunity to personally thank the guitar tech
(the kinda Tom Petty / Shawn Mullins lookin' guy) for being the coolest!!!!!

Dude, seriously, you handed me a set list at the Chicago fan appreciation show and
one of the guitar picks last night. Thanks for hookin' a brother up!!!!!! You are the

Awesome show!!!!!!!!!!!

HEY! I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT I'VE BECOME A 100% TRAIN FAN. I WENT TO SEE YOU GUYS IN CHICAGO MAY 16 AT YHE RIV. YOU GUYS ROCKED. I'M GOING TO BE HONEST HERE. I ONLY KNEW 2 OF YOUR SONGS THAT BEING "MEET VIRGINIA AND DROPS OF JUPITER". I MUST SAY THAT YOU GUYS PUT ON A HELL OF A SHOW. THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO ATTEND THE CONCERTS KNOW MOSTLY ALL THE WORDS TO THE SONGS BUT NOT ME. ALL YOUR SONGS SOUND SO GOOD. I THINK THAT IT'S BEST TO CHECK OUT A GROUP BEFORE PURCHASING THEIR ALBUM. EVERYTHING SOUNDED SO GOOD AND NOW THIS WEEKEND, I'M PURCHASING BOTH CDS. I GOT TO MEET YOU GUYS AFTER THE SHOW AND I MUST SAY THAT YOUR ARE THE MOST DOWN TO EARTH GUYS I HAVE EVER MET. MOST BANDS DON'T ACT AND TRAT THEIR FANS LIKE YOU GUYS DO. DON'T CHANGE THAT. THANK YOU FOR PUTTING ON A WONDERFUL SHOW HERE IN CHICAGO AND I WISH YOU LOTS OF SUCCESS BECAUSE YOU GUYS ARE ONE AWESOME BAND!

Maria - Fri May 18 00:08:44 EDT 2001

I just wanted to let you know that you guys played an amazing show at Clutch Cargo's in Pontiac. It was the first concert I have ever been to of yours, although I have been a fan for about a year. Also the new cd is wonderful, you really out did yourselves. I look forward to seeing you again with Matchbox 20, in Aug. at the Detroit show.
Keep up the good work,
Have fun

Pat is from my hometown! Back when he was in what some of you call GLAM bands! I was one of his early fans! It's GREAT to see that the rest of the world knows what I have known for years! He also STILL lives here! about 30 minutes from me!

Melissa-
Thanks for sharing your opinion. I worry too that Train will end up getting too big, and become the rockstar types that will have me saying, "they used to be..."
But the band is still great, the music still genuine. Weed makes you paranoid.

thank you

I fell in love with the first cd and wondered if the second would speak to me in the same way
well it didn't, it touched me totally different but my soul was equally moved. The two songs
that brought me to tears are Getaway and Mississippi, Drops of Jupiter is the journey I'm about
to take in Alaska, it's the Land of Midnight Sun and I plan to dance along the light of
day, I've found myself, fell for a shooting star, and now will be part of the milkyway. this song
sums up my here and now. Thank you Train for the inspiration your music is to me.

See you in September, Sacramento, Ca

Raging at the Riv

Hi Guys! Just wanted to let you know that the show last night in chicago was awesome! I saw you when you were here in Indy at Butler University a few weeks ago, but last night I only had about 4 people between me and the center of the stage and that made all the difference! What an incredible set and what a fantastic show you guys put on! Keep up the great work, and I'll be seeing you guys again real soon!

Amy

Hey Pat, what did you see the sock puppet front and center? I was right behind her, how hysterical! :)

Last Night

I know this is redundant based on everyone else's post, but I just gotta say again that you guys are the greatest. The Chicago show last night rocked. I have caught you guys the last 3 times you have been here, including the CD release party which also rocked, and I plan on being there in August when you come back. Your music is so real despite what some no-talent-critics have to say. I loved every minute of the concert although today I still cannot hear so good out of one ear. Stood was to close to the speakers. Ouch! Anyway, loved the concert, love you guys, and enjoyed the fact that you changed one song from the set list. For those who do not know, they were supposed to play Idaho, but changed it to Homesick while on stage (I was lucky enough to get a set list last night after the show). Great choice. See you guys later and keep showing the world what Train is all about.

Finally... Some GOOD music!

It's refreshing to hear a band like Train on the radio I was almost starting to lose my faith in music! Amidst all the spandex-wearing teeny-boppers and blue-haired mall punks it's hard to find good new music these days. Train's presence on MTV, VH1 and the local radio stations proves that quality singer-songwriter music will never die as long as there are listeners out there who still have taste...
...And it doesn't hurt that Pat the lead singer is a total SEX BOMB! Whooh! ;)

I just wanted to say that last night's concert in Chicago was sweet! This is my first time seeing Train and I just had my knee reconstructed but dammit I went to the show. Good Job!

Hi Train Band Members,

I want to express what a neat band I think you are. I just got the Jupiter casette and it's awesome. Pat reminds me a lot of one of my friends who also plays in an alternative band. My friend conveys his emotions through music and the Jupiter video did this in a wonderful way. I've never seen a video like it where positive (real life) emotion came through. The lyrics that struck me were "Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you're wrong." My friend stood by be when I went through some emotional growing pains (trying to realize why the world is the way it is and what life's all about).

Good job to the band and I wish you much success. I look forward to seeing you at Blockbuster Desert Sky Pavilion on September 29th in Phoenix, AZ.

Have a good day,

Bert

okay...for real now...

Man, I was a little drunk (post-Train show) when I wrote the last message, still in the bliss of having met the band and heard one of the best rock and roll shows I have ever heard. Wow, can these guys perform! I think enough people have ripped on Melissa to let her know that she 'don't know where it's at'...but I have to say, get a clue girlfriend! :) That's all I'll say. If these guys can keep it as real as they did at the Charlotte show, their music will never die. Such energy, such talent, and damn...such good music! It always means a lot when a band takes the time to meet some of its fans- you fellas are quite cool...keep makin' it happen! :) Thanks for the tunes.

Best Night of my Life?

Chicago show, 3 words . . . A Maz Ing! 'nuf said. Can we say hour and a half long eargasm? Because yah, I think we can. The lighting was absolutely glorious, the singing was close to angelic, the music was enchanting, and the stage presence . . . are there even words? So to you Train, thank you, another perfect show under your belts. And now my friends, it is time for bed, for my body is weary and my feet are achy from too much dancing.

Down to earth

Hey-
I think the train guys are the greatest. At the hartford show (the show i missed because of finals) two of my friends had backstage passes. after train's performance they went backstage and were eagerly waiting to meet the guys. however, none of them were showing up. finally my friends got fed up and went back into the venue. well geuss who they saw chillin out there with the crowd? the members of train! i just thought that was really cool to do.

i am sorry melissa that you had a bad train concert experience. however, i do not know where you are getting the entire glam rock thing from. from what i have heard from all the past concert reviews these guys are just having a great time nd enjoying their success. i know i would be.
peace,

My Two Cents to Melissa

Please Guys don't take this girl seriously, she must have gotten hold of some bad acid or something. I love the show you put on. Comapred to Jacob Dylan ( No offense he's awsome too) but he doesn't do anything, just stands there and sings. And then ooooo, he takes off his sunglasses and everyone applauds...and then he takes out his acustic and knocks his dad ( I was so dying to see a father son reunion at Music Midtown) I guess Jacob hasn't learned how to "let it roll" yet. Hey Pat maybe you could talk to him. Anyways I found the dance moves very entertaining( a huge plus ontop of an already awesome Combination of lyrics, vocals, and music)
And thats the Truth :)~

Excited about train with matchbox twenty

First of all, I want to say that I've loved train since I first heard Meet Virginia. In fact, it became my nickname on the matchbox twenty guest discussion board. I was introduced to Train's music by matchbox twenty's lead singer, Rob Thomas and guitarist, Adam Gaynor.

I just want to say how excited I am to see 2 of my favorite bands sharing a stage. This should be a magnificent show. I've tried to see Train before, but to no avail, so this will be awesome. I even introduced Train to my best friend in Australia (before they became popular) and we are going to see you guys in Chicago in August when she comes to visit me all the way from Sydney Australia.

Anyway, I just want to say how much your music inspires me. "blind", "I am", "Hopeless", "Respect", and "Drops of jupitor" are just a few of my favorite songs, although, there isn't one song I completely dislike on either album or EP.

Take care, God bless, and can't wait to see your performance and to see Matchbox twenty with you. I hope Pat can come out and do a little duet with Rob Thomas. I'm sure it would sound magnificent.

To Erika...

Sorry to all the Back Street Boys fans out there. I personally do not like them, but as Erika states, everyone has their own opinions. I was just using them as an example of a "flashy, image-conscious" band. Even though the men of Train are getting very popular, they still make you feel like you are watching a very talented local band. They have that down-home feel to them. Actually they could come to my home anytime....:) Scott's parents don't live to far from me...

Learn what it is about

Melissa--I don't know what you said, but apparently you don't appreciate music for anything. Music is from the soul and the heart. It is a key that unlocks the door to your entire being and lets out things that otherwise would be kept inside. You don't try to impress ppl in an audience by dancing or "getting into it". You let yourself be in a place all by itself with no concept of the ppl around. It is you, your music, your instrument, your words. Nothing else matters. Back off the appearance and just listen.

high school

This is a message for Charlie. I went to high school w/ you! You might not remember me but I just wanted to tell you how happy I am for you and all of your success. I still talk to a lot of our classmates and I know that they feel the same way. After all the lunch time concerts in the quad, its wonderful to know that someone as nice as you has followed their heart and talents. You certainly deserve it. I now live in North Providence, Rhode Island and I am sorry to say that I will miss your show on Sunday the 20th. It's my little boy's 3rd birthday. But my brother and sister in law will be there! I look forward to the next time that you are in New England - I wont miss it. I also have to say that both of Train's albums are terrific. All the best to you and your band mates.

New Tour Dates

I just saw that you guys will be touring with Matchbox 20. I sure hope the tickets are affordable. Although I would spend a little more to see you guys. I even thought about entering a contest on a radio show that is out of Los Angeles and I live outside of Portland, OR. I would buy an airline ticket to see you guys perform accoustically in the KLOS radio studio (via Mark and Brian show). Anyway, I was wondering if the Seattle show show at the Gorge Ampitheatre is actually out of Seattle. There is a Gorge Ampitheatre not too far from Portland in George, Washington (actual name). Just wanted to make sure it was Seattle and not there. Tickets show they go on sale on June 6. I want to get a jump on it if I could.

Also, regarding Melissa. Not sure what show she saw but I thought you guys were great here in Portland. You were down to earth and not flashy. That's what I like. The concerts are about the music not the hype and flash. Stay true to the music and don't get too lost in the stars.

Thanks for listening.

I think that the song Drops Of Jupiter is a very very very good song, I can't discribe how much I love it. The reason I love it is because it reminds me of space and I love space just as much as I love this song. I Love it.

Ahem! And what is wrong with Backstreet? Just kidding, everyone has their own opinions, but I enjoy both bands; despite how different they are. I absolutely love Train though. Their lyrics are uplifting, and I'm constantly reccomending the "Drops Of Jupiter" CD to everyone. I'd have to say my favorite song on that album is "Hopeless". What about everyone else?

Melissa

OK I am going to add to all the shit tossing to Melissa. If you are such a "fan" of the music, why would you care what they looked like or did on stage. Shouldn't it just be about the music? The experiences? The words? I think that you have probably been a closet Back Street Boys fan for so long that you have lost all sense of great music. What do you want them to do while they are performing, just stand there and play their instrument and not move or act. Jimmy probably went wild on his guitar because he was so into his performance. Listening to the other reviews of the show, seems like you were somewhere else that night. Next time either keep the negative vibes to yourself or plan to get bashed right back. HELLO this is a "fan" web page, RIGHT??

HMM, Let's see

Well, being that I have yet to see Train in concert, it's interesting to hear the different opinions about them. But I can somewhat understand where Melissa is coming from. Often there are bands that become to big for their britches and Train has had a very big growth spurt. I hope that Melissa's experience was an isolated one. I have very high expectations for Trains performance. I have seen Matchbox 20 and they weren't half bad....... Or maybe it was the alcohol, who knows! But anyway, I hope whom ever actually read my last posting enjoyed my mother's poem and took into consideration what I stated.

I love this band!

I have now purchased your last two albums (the self-titled and drops of jupiter)... I just bought "Drops of Jupiters" yesterday... I was blown away by it!! I mean... I loved the self-titled album... i couldn't stop listening to it for almost a month straight. The harmony and melodics of the band are truly inspirational and just sweet music to my ears. There are so many words to describe this band and one of them for sure is "GREAT!!" I am from Vancouver Canada and I do believe that they are performing live at "The Commodore" on May 24th or 25th.. and I can't wait!! I haven't seen these guys live yet, but I'm sure i'll be even more blown away by their musical talents. My dream has always been to be in a band like Train. Excellent songwriting and catchy melodic and very rock sounding songs (even the odd slow ballad). I'm at the point in my life where I have to start saving money right now... but once i heard the Drops of Jupiter song, I couldn't get it out of my head (especially the "hey hey" part during the first and second verses) and I just had to go out and buy it!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS! you haven't disappointed me yet in any one of your songs... TALENTED is what this band is and us music fans are just so lucky to experience this kind of quality music in our lifetimes... Thank you once again! =)

Mellissa' s review

I am fortunate enough to be in a band that played with train several times when they first started out. They opened for us in Chico and we opened for them a couple times in Santa Rosa. Melissa, You make the statement that "this isn't the train I Know." Your right, these down to earth amazing musicians have evolved into one of the greatest bands going right now. And to think they have just stated. Off stage they are down to earth extemely funny and approachable guy's. On stage they are true preformers.....Melissa, sit back, enjoy, and let them have fun and be who they are.... Sunset Red

You obviously focused too much attention on the little things that you failed to hear the music! Next time you see Train in concert, get your priorities straight. Be there to listen and feel their music, not as a critic on their looks and their actions!!!!

Melissa..and my DET review!

I have seen Train many times in MI and IL. Let me say a few things to Melissa first....your review sucked, period. It sounds to me that you have no clue who this band is...if your going to rip on them, you might as well learn their names. To Jimmy (as you call him, "Mr. Lead Guitar Man"), your performance was amazing, and it was great to meet you again. You simply are an amazing guitarist and it was clear you were having fun performing. Gosh, give him a break. oh and yeah if you love them so much, learn his name. He is not TRYING to be a rock star, seems to me he IS a rock star. The concert was AMAZING! The best I have seen yet from these guys. These guys are true musicians and after meeting them for like the 5th time, they are still the same Train they were before. Down to earth, nice, friendly, and overall just caring about their fans/friends. I think they deserve more than the crappy review you gave them. Train is a "real" band, last night they were soo into the show and it was obvious they were enjoying themselves and the crowd. Michigan fans always treat them well, and it just sucks that you had to rip on them like that. They werent being "cheesy" they were being themselves, real and honest. Their music is amazing, and it touches and inspires people. If you didnt feel that at the show like I did, and also everyone else that i talked to did, im sorry. But dont come on here bashing the band and asking for the "real Train" to come back. They are real and they are here to stay. Thanks Pat, Jimmy, Rob, Scott, and Charlie for another great show. "Sweet Rain" would have been a treat, but the highlight was playing "hopeless" for 19wheels! Thanks so much...
Rob Ashmore

Songwriting

The first time I heard "Drops of Jupiter" on the radio I thought it was amazing. Train's songs are heartfelt and their progressions are really innovative (always a surprise chord, unlike other bands)
Rock on!

Just wanted say : Melissa...They are musicians! Passionate about what they are doing AND having a GREAT TIME DOING IT....if you don't mind?!?! I think they are great. I have enjoyed them live as you say that you have....please let them be themselves and have fun...they don't have to fit into anyone's box...they are artists!

Train at Clutch Cargos

Ok, I just read what Mellisa said, and I have to dissagree. I'm a huge HUGE fan of yours, have been for a while. This was the first time I got to see you guys live though, because haha mommy and daddy are finally letting there little girl go out to concerts by herself with her friends (and its about time, I am going to college and everything =) but anyway, I went with 5 of my friends and we all agreed that it was one of the best concerts we have ever ever been to. I loved how you guys were so into what you were doing, I thought it was awsome. I didn't think it was popped out MTV glossed over cheexe, or wanna be Aerosmith guitar, I thought it was a band that was finally getting the recognition they deserve that still was into playing an awsome show for the fans. I thought you sounded great, I thought your energy was great, I just thought it was a kick ass show. And your opening act was awsome too, the reminded me of Dispatch, sort of. But their energy was great too. The whole car ride home none of us could shut up about how great it was, we were actually kind of obnoxious, constantly repeating the same thing (Oh my god that was an amazing show etc for the hour drive home). Anyway, I love you guys and I can't wait to see you with matchbox 20. Keep rocking!

website

Just stumbled across your notes from the road and thought it was pretty cool to see how your updating your fans, which I'm one of though my brother tries to take credit for your introduction. As a web designer I really like your website, good colors and easy to navigate. Hey what about a show in Milwaukee? I know your playing in Chicago at the world Music theater - that sucks unless your 6'5", Milwaukee has a great outdoor theater (Marcus Ampitheater) or are all tour dates posted?

Anyway, I love the new cd; listening to it right now while I stare at my computer. Maybe I should take up Bonnie's job and follow your tour around; sounds more fun. Hope to catch the show this summer.

I live in Montana, which is a horrible place to hear good music, but I just looked at the tourdates and Train is playing in my town in September with Matchbox 20! I'm so excited, only 4 months! It's so awesome, I'm so glad you guys are playing in places that you didn't this tour, thanks!!!

Train at Clutch Cargo's

So, I've been a big Train fan ever since I've seen you share a stage with Jump, Little Children at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor two or three years ago. I've seen you guys perform several times since then, at the Blind Pig, at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit, and then last night at Clutch Cargo's in Pontiac. We showed up two hours early and stood in the rain to make sure we could secure a good spot (cuz you guys have been hitting it big, you know). I was at the show fully expecting to see the Train that I know and love, the band that comes on stage, knows their shit, and plays thier songs with all the passion and soul that they have in them. What I saw instead (and I mean this with all the respect that I still have for you as musicians and for the band that I know is still in you) was a bunch of cheese-dorks on stage caught up in the Matchbox-Twenty syndrome. I am saying this because I am still a big fan of your music, but I couldn't stand to watch you perform live this time. Pat- you really don't need to pantomime out the songs for us...we know them already, and it just looks increadibly cheesey. Mr. Lead Guitar Man (I'm sorry I don't know who is who) you don't need to take every opportunity to turn a lead guitar solo into an Aerosmith play-alike contest...again very cheesey, and it really dosen't show off your talent, it just makes you look like you're trying to be a rock star. If we want to see Kiss, we'll but tickets for Kiss. Kudos to the bass guitarist, the rhythm guitarist, and (I think) the drummer for coming out like we've seen them in the past, just talented musicians playing because they love to play, not to please the MTV hoochies and underage studmuffins. Although I know that glam-rock sells (why, I'm still not sure) the people that buy into that sort of stuff aren't the fans that are going to still be around when you are no longer the latest-and-greatest in rock and roll and Britney Spears has released her next album. It's going to be people like me with a real appreciation for music and a dislike for the pumped up, hyped up, glam-rock music video shows. Thanks for listening, and I still love your music. Keep it up.

Sincerely,
Melissa from Michigan

great CD & website

Just wanted you guys to know that I've been a fan since the early days. The new CD is great, love the title track. I've worn out 2 CD's already of the first Train CD (and given several of them to people as gifts). The two hidden tracks are incredible songs. I love your music. And your website. As a fan, I really appreciate your letters from the road (sounds like someone in the band has a good sense of humor). Keep up the good work. We really do appreciate you, your interest in your fans, and your music. Best regards ....

The Music . . .

There is a lot of texture to this band and the compositions. One tell-tale sign of a band's ability is the capacity to play "live" in a radio station studio during a promo with watered-down gear. The feel of the tune remains . . .Quite a commentary! I own a record store. Despite this, my wife won a copy of the new release from a radio station. Now we both have mobile copies. I got hip to TRAIN after hearing, "Free". Very little motivates me to pick up a release after one tune, one listen. Trust me!

I just turned 40. I tire of the angry rock sound and some of the new hybrid genres. Give me a band that can play an arena and the "front porch" and still deliver the goods.

That band . . .TRAIN!

Keep on keeping it real!

My Two Cents :)

As long as everyone is putting in their two cents on who they think is the hottest memeber of the band, I might as well give my thoughts on the subject. As much as I think your all a bunch of the Cutest, most adorable, Hot, Lovable Nerds ( nerds being meant in an extremely good way)....My heart goes out to Charlie :)~

Re: At the Toronto show

Train Fan wrote:
"Pat said that there were "like, *6* people" at the Lee's Palace show. That was probably because MIX 99.9
was giving away tickets and that was the only way you could get in."

Just in reference to that statement Pat made on Sunday...he was actually talking about their show at Lee's Palace
back in November 1999, not the one which just passed at the end of March!!! And yes, he speaks the truth, as I was ONE of those
"6" people there that night (ok, there were a few more than that, but certainly not many :>), I can back up that statement!!
The show they did there at the end of March this year was only an industry showcase, open to only industry-types & radio contest winners.
Being resourceful like I am, I was at that one too! :) Hehe. And there were MANY more than 6 people there THAT time, it was pretty full! :)

funny

It is so funny to me how so many people talk about what "hotties" that Train are. They are all quite adorable (married or not). It is so nice to have a GREAT band, AND for them to be such cuties too! Nice bonus! =o) What's funny to me is that I loved them for over a year without even knowing (or caring for that matter) what they looked like. Just LOVED the music! The fact that they are ALL adorable is just a bonus! Can't wait to see you guys at the Warfield!! =o) I hope that I will have the chance to meet you guys after the show...waited to no avail in LA... either way, take care of yourselves and keep the GREAT music coming!! You are such an inspiration!

Refreshing Sound

After hearing "Drops of Jupiter" on the radio for the first time earlier today, my immediate assumption was that I was hearing the best song ever by the Black Crowes. My mouth dropped when the radio D.J. came on and said it was Train's latest. The contrast between this and "Meet Virginia" was absolutely stunning.

"Drops of Jupiter" was something I would never have expected from a "new age" group. It's very, very refreshing to hear a piano and violins mixed into a song. The harmony is perfect. The new CD is definitely #1 on my "to-buy" list. Thanks for the great work, guys, and please, PLEASE keep it up!

very inspirational

I have a younger sister that last July was married. She and i were never that close when we lived at home togeher. Now that both have moved out of the house, we have grown very close. Recently she hase moved very far away so that her husband can finish his college. I heard the song Drops of Jipiter and was reminded of her greatly. We listend together over and over and cried the hole time. Hearing that songs makes it easier to deal with now getting to see her as often.(hardly at all) It's nice to know that someone can write a song that can do that much for a person. Thank you.

I have posted before about the 05/12/01 show in Clifton Park, NY but I just have to say, that I will be waiting out for tix on Friday night at SPAC for anyone who wants to hang out! I got my pictures yesterday from the show on Saturday night and they kick ass!! The guys were exceptional to all of their fans. I had the opportunity to go to the sound check prior to the show, and the guys didn't rush us or anything when they were done signing our posters that 103.1fm gave us. It was THE best concert experience of my life (and I followed the DEAD for a summer!!) Trying like hell to get backstage for SPAC, so if anyone gets the skinny on that you can post it here or e-mail me at dawngarrison143@hotmail.com. I'd like to hear from other train fans. Good Luck to the person looking for tix that are not 175.00!! But that price is well worth the experience that I had on Saturday....

Hey Guys, I don't mean to be a pain in the ass but you have picked a really bad date for your one and only U.K. gig. Problem is the Wildhearts are playing the same night and if you had ever been to one of their gigs then you would know why I can't miss it especially as they have only reformed for a few nights. Please can you either

A) Arrange more dates in the U.K (Lazy Bastards)

or

B) Change the date you have to accomodate me. I know this is selfish but I would appreciate it immensley.

or

C) Come to Nottingham Rock City after the London gig and play a set there. Look forward to seein you guys there.

I can't believe all of you "train-heads" left the new bus unattended at the Clutch this a.m. ??!! Was the band sleeping? And many thanks to the set-up crew who was kind enough to say "hi" and welcome us... (Sorry we didn't have enough time to offer to carry that stuff :-))

From the girls who watched from the third floor next to Clutch Cargo as the bus arrived (6 a.m.) and Manager?/Driver ... walked to the mission and back (7:00 a.m.) ...Ryder truck arrived (7:15 a.m.)...Set-Up begins (1:30 p.m.)

Sorry... Pat, Charlie, Jim, Rob, Scott, We would have brought breakfast... doughnuts ... or SOMETHING!!!!... only had time on breaks and lunches... to watch in amazement as the newest freshest sound of soul arrived...

Looks like a Sold-Out Show ... Hoping Detroit treats you well!

Off to Pontiac...

in reading everyone's bios, its just great to see how much this group seriously loves what they do. and the best part is that you dont even need to read the bios to know that.

At the Toronto show...

Pat said that there were "like, *6* people" at the Lee's Palace show. That was probably because MIX 99.9 was giving away tickets and that was the only way you could get in. Pat said that they were beginning to wonder if it would ever happen here for them and the band performed "Hopeless" right after that. Well, I don't think the band has to worry about that anymore after the reception at The Opera House. :) Good work guys... You *ROCK*! And I *still* can't believe I was that close to you Pat and got to look at you for *2* hours. :P lol

My 2 Fave Things....

Here's a story for ya....coming home one day with my soft chicken taco from taco bell "Drops of Jupiter" came on my radio and I was in a bind. Eat my favorite food in the world, or sing along to the song that I sit around and wait for? Needless to say, my taco got cold as I belted out the lyrics to my Number 1 song!

MI. Show

Something has come at the last minute and I have just found myself unable to come to the show. When I choose to buy the ticket for a concert, it is because a specific group of people have created a sound that moves me. It is also a gesture of my appreciation for your ambition and talent. I hope tonights show is a great experience for you and, so you know, Clutch Cargo's is a renovated church...an interesting setting for "Drops of Jupiter". I was looking forward to hearing "Let it Roll" and "Something More", I'm sure the added energy of the live experience would have been phenomenal. Hope you will all see past the rain and find some fun to have this afternoon....as well, a wonderful evening. You all have something to be proud of....each other, and what you share with people like myself. :)

Friday May 11

I ment to post earlier, but alas....
Anyway i was at the Philadelphia show last friday, and it was my first Train show. I already owned both albums and listened to them frequently, but seeing the songs live has given me a whole new appreciation for the music. Plus afterwords, Pat was real nice about giving me an autograph which most musicians with two hit albums arn't. I can't wait until the next Philadelphia show, so i'm trying to organize a road trip to catch another one. Admiration and Respect,

Toronto Opera House Concert

It is great to see a band that brings together music, words and emotion as well as you guys do. I had the priviledge of seeing you in concert last night in Toronto and what a show! It isn't often that you can say that a band sounds as good, if not better, live than they do on their recordings! I look forward to seeing you the next time you're around. Toronto

Man, you guys had me worrried--it was past 8:00 pm and you were STILL waiting for your food at The Real Jerk. The way I looked at it however, as long as you were still sitting there, there was no way I was going to miss your show, so I wasn't panicking about the slow service. Once I looked up and saw you guys leaving--and we STILL didn't have our food--I got a little worried. Fortunately, we go inside in time to catch Five For Fighting, a great opening act, and all of your show. Too bad you didn't come back to do the 2nd encore, Let it Roll, since we were looking forward to hearing that tune. You guys are one of the most professional and interesting live acts I've seen in a long time, and I'm 46. Not a single note or peep or drum sound between songs, tight, tight playing and great "banter". The Hip cover would have been too much for everyone to take. Good luck with the Matchbox Tour. Are they opening for you? :)

See you again soon I hope.

Steve - Mon May 14 18:51:09 EDT 2001

AHH!! how refreshing

OK, I love the new album but please give them another singal. d-o-j is a beautiful song but the radio plays the heck out of like they don't have any other good songs by Train. But any hoot, does any one know what the "diamonds in the rock" are doing now a days? i hope they had a pleasurable mothers day. Mine actually went ok. I thought I would be horribly upset being that I just lost my mother this past January. I did not shed 1 tear, which is good. I choose every other day to cry about it. One thing that has helped is writing to whom ever and exposing myself to a certain degree. I have a poem I would like to share with you all as a reminder of how important it is that we never take one day of anyones life for granted. Here is my poem in loving memory of my mom, Johnella Evans
One Last Look
A beautifull look at age fourteen.
A look at myself before I was me.
Those vibrant eyes and full lips with a mole right above.
A potrait of what i look like before i was thought of.
Slender and sleek, a model of mink.
Character of high society most would think.
Made hard, mean and tough,
needless to say she had it rough.
Not by the look would you say so,
made up of loving-kindness and glow.
But now there is nothing there,
not even moisture in her hair.
Kindness toughness not a trace,
all that's left is a lifeless face.
As i watch mom in my mirror tears swell,
as i take one last look at the face i love so well.

what a great performance!

Hey Train guys!
I went to your Toronto performance at the Opera House and I thought you guys were great along with Five for Fighting! I was with my girl friends and I hope you guys remember we were the group of Asian girls (which consisted of two or three girls that couldn't stop giggling cuz we were a bit star struck). Anyway, I just want to take this opportunity to THANK YOU guys for being so NICE to us when we came up to most of you for hugs and autographs. We can't wait for you guys to come back in July! And keep up the great music you all make! Please keep in touch with us too guys! Thanks.

Someone should tell Train to post their concert dates to jambase.com and espically pollstar.com, they barely know who you are man.

That's how I find all my concerts, I wouldn't have thought about you until my friend said they were playing locally, and I checked on this site.

Anyway, I really like drops of jupiter.

Philadelphia show

My 4th live Train performance in 4 wks...
and WOW! Philly was great! The top level
was rowdy (that's where you could drink).
Anything anyone has said about the guys
being nice, down-to-earth, etc... is sorely
understated. After the concert they were
so gracious, humble and funny as hell.
It was worth the trip from So Cal!

And... again, Train fans are the best!
Great time!!

mellow....

Anyway can you stand it!! I had just posted

and you guys are talking about it....

That is neat - that made me feel cool!
I think we have a connection here...
can we meet? (Ha)....

I'll have to catch ya again so I
can see "Blind" now that you're going
to play it....

see ya....

The guys did a great show. It was my first time seeing them in concert and I was impressed.

All in all, good gig. Congrats.

Wicked Show!!!!

I just wanted to drop a line to tell everyone how amazing you guys rocked the Opera House in Toronto last night. My ears are still ringing but it's all good. I have one suggestion and it also happens to be Karen's suggestion (posted earlier) "it would be cool to do a Tragically Hip cover!" next time your here. I was the freak in the crowd yelling "hip, hip, hip" after you mentioned the 100th Meridian. It would have totally made the night for me, but hell you guys kicked ass anyway. Keep up the great work, and come back soon.

Train is a real band, made of real people.

Ttain just played at the Webster theatre in Hartford CT, and what a hell of a show. The opening band sincerly kicked ass, and they totally rocked the place. What I loved most was how they didn't mind playing a small theatre, they just wanted teir music heard and it didn't matter where they were. I was so impredded with the performance, I have seen alot of big named shows and they really put them to shame. Keep up the amesome work you guys are such awesome preformers. I loved how you related to the audience and really played for us. Good luck with the rest of the tour and if you are in CT again will you play at our Graduation?:)

Great Show boys.

Just wanted to drop a line to let everyone know how great the Toronto performance
was last night. I have been to many concerts and this is quite possibly the best one
I've ever seen. Train has amazing stage presence. I brought a few friends that had no
idea who or what Train was but they are now in love with the music.
If the guys in the band are reading this, thank you so very much for talking with us

and we really really appreciated it. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!

I am going to be honest- I have never heard of you before "Dawson's Creek". I have the soundtrack and I heard your single "Respect" and I loved it. Then in the car I heard this shooting star song and started to listen to the words. Later that day my friend and I went out and both bought copies. Awesome!!! We both absolutely love the whole album. There was a sticker on the front of the case that stated "If you don't love this cd, Columbia will by it back from you". No need!! Songs

Greetings:

Wonderful new CD. Great songs, very well done. I like the fact you didn't take two years to write and record it. That shows it comes from the heart and that all 5 of you are on the same page musically. As an "ex" semi-successful musician, I can appreciate that. I listen to eveything from "The Beatles" to "Marylin Manson". You are a welcome additon to my CD collection. Respect should be your next single. But it's the songs and Pat's voice that do it for me. There is no substitiution for well crafted songs, and you boy's got that in a big way! I'm just sorry you are not MY best kept sceret anymore! Good luck to all of you.

Butler concert--indy (as seen in pics on site)

I decided to leave early and skip some class
Cause i heard these train guys really kicked ass
So i journeyed to indy and butler that day
Not even shitty construction would stand in my way
Cause i was pumped, and i was psyched
This was one band i really liked
I sat row L section D toward the back
But when train said "fill the space" i was leading the pack
It was the best concert, nothing could be better
And the cherry on top was now i was front and center
With a really hot girl next to me that nite
We made out to train and i was feelin alright
It was nearing the end, seconds started to tick
I guess every ice cream cone must have its last lick
So it ended that day and my heart still does race
When i think of hearing train and that hot girl's lips in my face
You guys rock!!!

re:to explanation to "drops of Jupiter"

actually i just heard an interview on the radio with them and he was talking about the song. and actually there is no symbolism or anything to that song. he just went into a room and wrote for 4 hours and came up with this song. it kindda came from a dream.......or something......i didnt really understand the whole thing. but i hope that answers your question.

OOOWWW my geeosh!! man!, that song just takes me away every time i hear it! i just had to go out and get your CD and i love it so much. i would love to now get any other former CDs you might have and i hope i may even get to see you play someday at a concert of yours. you guys kick butt, thanks for making such awesome music.

Explanation to Lyrics of "Drops of Jupiter"

Hey guys, I'm a new Train fan ever since hearing "Drops of Jupiter". The thing is, i don't really understand the lyrics to it. I know it must be filled with metaphors and stuff, but can someone please explain what the symbolism and stuff in the song is to me? Thanks so much!

NewTrainFan - Mon May 14 02:20:50 EDT 2001

Tonight's Toronto Concert at The Opera House

I just got back from the concert! OMG - I was *feet* away from Pat! lol :D I hope the band didn't mind that everyone sang along to "Meet Virginia" and "Drops of Jupiter" and I must say that I'm so glad you didn't leave them 'till the end or make us scream too long for an encore. :) I couldn't believe I saw Pat, Jimmy and Scott walking down the street when I was in line! You guys are *so* humble and I hope you stay that way. Pat put a cowboy hat on a girl's head in the crowd and wants her to fly down to San Francisco on May 26th to meet him. I hope she does it and that Pat sees that hat again like he said he wants to... Lucky girl. I wish I was going.

TOUR MANAGER

In regards to Teri's bashing of Tom, the TRAIN tour manager....I just saw TRAIN for the 28th,29th, and 30th times this weekend. I have come across Tom at least 15 times. He has always been kind, accomodating, considerate, and caring. Even at last night's show, I saw him give out free bottled water to the people in the crowd because the club was so hot. He also made room in the front of the stage for a person in a wheelchair. He goes ABOVE and BEYOND, and he is worth MORE than whatever TRAIN is paying him......
Sorry Teri, but I can only assume that the person YOU came across was an IMPOSTOR, and not the real tour manager.....

Jason - Mon May 14 00:35:54 EDT 2001

THANKS!!!

I was one of those screaming fans in Atlanta last weekend!!! You guys are the best...that was the 6th time I have seen you. I am from Birmingham, Alabama originally your 2nd home and moved to Atlanta last year. I was lucky enough to see you guys at Southern Tracks when you did a small show for 99X. As always you were wonderful. You guys quit signing autographs in Atlanta at MusicMidTown 5 minutes too soon!!! I wish you were going to be closer for my birthday but you will be in LA on June 4 and do not guess you could make it to Atlanta on the 5th for my big 30!! One day I will get to meet you guys!! Thanks for all the great music!!! I can always pop in the CD when I need to be lifted up or if I need to chill-out with Mississippi..
Keep it up and I look forward to the seeing you guys again soon!!!

Tour dates

OK, I'mjust chillin out in front of the tv, being lazy, and I hear the most amazing thing.
Train and Matchbox20 are going on tour together. Very, very, very, and may I just say
very cool. Ok, so now my questions are, 1) is it a sure thing? and 2)When!When!When!
So if anyone has the skinny, give me a holler.
Thanks Much,

great music

hi!

Well...I don't really have anything really important to say...I am a normal, 24 year old, happily married woman, who is a mother of a 2 year old and I am a graduate student (really not important, lol). The reason I say this is to let you know that I am just a normal person, not some music critic...just someone who really loves your music. Your CD has been in my car for months and I have no intention of taking it out any time soon.In fact, I just bought another copy to put in our other car so that I could hear it in any car I was in, lol. I love the music! I am a huge music fan, but this last year I had been feeling empty...no new music that I felt was worth buying, and for me-that was not normal. I use to buy a CD at least every week. When I heard Drops of Jupiter on the radio I had to drive myself straight to the music store, and I swear that I was there before the song ended on the radio. Your music struck a cord with me, the lyrics, the melody that I can't get out of my mind!, its beautiful and meaningful. I can actually feel the love you all have for the music in this CD by listening to it...And that is what Rock n Roll is all about! Thanks for reminding me and helping me realize that rock isn't dead! I just wanted to tell you that! (and to ask "when the hell are you coming to Texas!" ....haha.)
Always your fan,

cassie rincones

Northern Lights

I just have to say that last night was kick ass! We won passes to the sound check, then watched the show from the front row, and even hung out with the band for a little while during another autograph session. AMAZING! After all your fame, you guys all manage to have level heads! Just wanted to say congrats on the second record release. Scott, that was a very sweet gift you gave your mom last night.

Can't wait to see you at SPAC!!

For all of you who think DOJ is the first album, PLEASE go buy the first release "Train". Both are very excellent!!

LOL

I was just over at the Matchbox twenty web sight for tour dates and I desided to stop in the forums to hear the buzz for the shows. Well turns out while most people dont know what Train sounds like they are refuring to them as "eye candy" for the shows lmao. Oh well the looks will get them there and the music will suck them in! =0)

Soul

I have been a fan of your music for a while now but I was so impressed with 'Drops of Jupiter' that I wanted to send a line.
I heard on the radio that you compose while doing soundchecks for the simple fact that you are all together. It amazes me to think of this when I listen to your soulful sounds, especially 'Drops' and 'I Wish You Would'. They illustrate the very same emotions and feelings I have had in my own life recently.
Thanks for creating music that touches all of the senses.

Inner Peace

Hello. I saw you guys Friday night in Philly - my roommate developed a Train obsession in the past week and insisted we go. Good show - I have to say it was a hilarious juxtaposition to be standing in a crowd with girls ducking the guy who was spraying water in the front and to see Pat up on stage with that blissful look on his face. I love intensity in life, and those who possess it.

Philly Concert

I just have to agree, Philly last night was a truly memorable experience. I knew it'd be great, but you guys were amazing last night, well worth the 2 hour drive, and I'd have paid a hell of a lot more than 10 dollars (I even got to be right in front!) Last night was the third time I've seen you guys and I couldn't even say anything, it was so great (I couldn't really hear anything either, but I was probably the happiest near deaf person alive.) Anyway, just want to tell you how incredible you guys are, and how thankful that I, an everyone else at the show last night I'm sure, is for you guys coming out and performing for us, and I'm really hoping to catch you guys again over the summer, or whenever I get the chance next.

lyrics

Did you know that you have a few mistakes in your lyrics for Drops of Jupiter? I felt you should know since you ARE the official site. (I'm not trying to being rude) here they are........

- since the return OF(not from) her stay on the moon

- and did you miss me while you were looking FOR(not at) yourself out there

- she checks out mozart while she does tae-bo
she reminds me that there's ROOM (not time)to grow

- and did you fall FROM (not for) a shooting star

Also at the end of the repeat of the first chorus why did you not include the added phrases he adlibs at the end of the song....

- did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day

- and did you fall from a shooting star....fall from a shooting star

- (I think its...) and while you were looking for yourself out there......

I just felt I needed to tell you guys...lol
