The original Euston station opened in 1837 and was the first intercity station to be built in London, so there was much controversy in the 1960s when the original building was demolished to coincide with the electrification of the West Coast Main Line. Much of the admired architectural features of Euston Arch were destroyed, leaving just a piece of the stone arch behind the bar in The Doric Arch pub, just outside the station. Despite the arch’s demise, Euston’s modernisation was long overdue. Now managed by Network Rail, Euston is the fifth busiest station in the UK. Every year Euston station serves over 71 million passengers, and its network of rail and bus links is unrivaled in the capital.

Arriving in Euston, it’s easy to get to anywhere in London, not that you need to. On Euston Road, you'll find the Wellcome Collection and the British Library. They’re both free to visit and on the doorstep of the station, which also hosts a bronze statue celebrating Robert Stephenson, the famous railway engineer.

Trains from Euston reach far and wide across the UK, connecting to major cities including Edinburgh, Manchester, Birmingham, and Liverpool. With services provided by Avanti West Coast, London Northwestern Railway, London Overground and sleeper services to Scotland with the Caledonian Sleeper. Popluar routes include London to Manchester, London to Edinburgh and London to Glasgow and London to Northampton.
