Trains to St James Park (Exeter)

St James Park railway station lies in the northeast suburbs of Exeter in Devon. It was opened at the turn of the 20th century, originally as Lion’s Holt Halt, by the then London and South Western Railway, though it was later changed to its current name in the mid ‘1940s. Today, the station and the trains that pass through on the Avocet Line are managed by Great Western Railway. It’s a basic, unstaffed station with no facilities for buying tickets, so they must either be bought online in advance or on board the train with the conductor. Other facilities at the two-platform station include a small waiting shelter and help points, but little else. There is an hourly direct train to Exeter St David’s in 7 minutes and Exmouth in 26 minutes.

The biggest draw to St James Park is its proximity to Exeter City Football Club. If you’re there at the right time, be sure to score some tickets for one of the exciting matches where you can cheer on the Grecians with their passionate fans.
