Another Parisian favourite, the Arc de Triomphe is one of the world's best-known commemorative monuments. This 164-foot Neoclassical archway sits in a circular plaza, Place Charles de Gaulle, at the western end of the Champs-Élysées

The Catacombs of Paris were built in the late 18th century when public health concerns meant moving the city's cemeteries to an underground site. A royal chapel and another inspiring example of Gothic architecture in Paris, Sainte-Chapelle is a beautiful place to visit for some reflection and uplifting atmosphere.

Look upwards for 1,113 colourful stained-glass windows, a high-vaulted ceiling, and plenty more remarkable features when you visit Sainte-Chappelle. The chapel is so beautiful that it's often compared to a jewellery box inside.
