1. PortAventura, Salou

Get your Indiana Jones hat at the ready, as there’s some serious exploring to do at this theme park in Salou. In just 1h 13m, you can take the train from Barcelona to Port Aventura, once here, you can journey through the exotic lands of Mexico, Polynesia, China, the Wild West and the Caribbean. With themed restaurants, bars, on-site hotels and entertainment, there’s something for everyone, and so much to do you won’t want to leave. Enjoy Polynesian dancing at the Bori Bori restaurant, watch a Chinese alchemist perform soap bubble tricks or experience the same sensations as Formula 1 drivers on Europe’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster in Ferrari Land. Like the famous red sports car, this theme park and its rides are bound to get your pulse racing!

2. Parque Warner, Madrid

There is plenty of ‘lights, camera…action’ at this movie-based theme park! Simply take a train to Madrid and hop on one of the many buses (with your bus ticket-park entrance package deal) from Madrid’s South bus station, about a 20-minute walk from Atocha train station. With the razzle-dazzle of Hollywood, fabulous action-packed live shows and behind the scenes special effects secrets, any film buffs will be thanking their lucky stars they opted for this theme park. Besides thanking stars, you can actually hang out with them at the park’s very own Cartoon World. Donald Duck, Tweety Pie and Bugs Bunny are all waiting to greet you in the cartoon village right after you’ve explored the park’s five themed areas, all based on the Warner Bros’ film sets and characters. Are you brave enough to try out the Superman, Batman and Stunt Fall rides? Go from zero to superhero at 115 km/h! When it comes to film-based parks in Spain, this one definitely steals the show and is bound to leave you with stars in your eyes.

3. Terra Mítica, Benidorm

This theme park is fit for a king…or should we say, emperor? Immerse yourself in ancient mythical legends as you explore the park’s five fabulous areas – Greece, Egypt, Rome, Iberia and the Islands. Learn about history and legends and take in stunning views of the Keops Pyramid and Lighthouse of Alexandria from the park’s very own watch tower –  the 100m tall Infinite. Are you brave enough to conquer the 100m free fall drop of Flight of the Phoenix or The Fury of Triton? Simply get the train to Alicante, then catch a tram to the Terra Mítica stop. Soon, you’ll be able to say Veni, Vidi, Vici (I came, I saw, I conquered) to all these incredible adrenaline-pumping rides.

4. Isla Mágica, Seville

Extremely easy to access via trains to Seville and located where the famous Seville World Expo 92 took place – Isla Magica is a fun-filled theme park that combines both history and excitement. Adventure through seven worlds of discovery with fortresses, the Amazon rain forest and 16th-century villages full of merchants. You can also experience life as a pirate surrounded by tall ships and thrilling rides which will either leave you HOOKed or feeling like a nervous (ship) wreck! As for entertainment, fabulous Andalusian horse shows and incredible firework displays are just a few of the many evening spectacles you can enjoy with the whole family. It’s hard to believe all of these incredible worlds of adventure can be found right in the heart of Seville.

5. Oasys, Almería

Are you a ranch-reveller? Always dreamt of being a cowboy? If so, back the right horse by choosing to visit this Wild West based theme park. Not only can you explore old film sets where hundreds of 60s and 70s Spaghetti Westerns were shot (pardon the cowboy pun), but you can also watch can-can dance shows, explore the cactus garden and the zoo reserve set in Europe’s only desert, with 800 animals and 175 different species. After walking in the footsteps of Clint Eastwood and Brigitte Bardot, what better way to end the day than with a dip in one of the Aquatic zone’s pools? Simply get the train to Almería, then a bus to this Western wonderland. Forget the Bad and the Ugly…you’ll only experience the Good at this theme park!
