When is Wimbledon 2023?
Wimbledon bounced into existence way back in 1877, making it the world’s oldest tennis tournament. Next year Wimbledon will fill our screens from Monday 3rd July to Sunday 16th July 2023. Where is Wimbledon held?
Wimbledon – AKA The Championships – is held in Wimbledon (surprisingly enough) at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
How do you get to Wimbledon?
The best way to get to Wimbledon is by train or tram, as you’ll avoid heavy traffic jams. The closest station to the court is Southfields, on the District Line. And if you’re getting the train to London, you can always add a travelcard onto your booking. If you’re not a fan of the tube, you might prefer to go direct to Wimbledon Overground station and walk for 30 minutes.
Where to watch Wimbledon for free
It can be tricky to get your hands on tickets for Centre Court, as it normally involves queueing, queueing and (you guessed it), more queueing. If you're planning to brave the long lines, make sure you read up on the official Wimbledon Queueing Code of Conduct. If not, you may want to find somewhere equally Wimbledon-themed, but with slightly cheaper price tags for strawberries and cream. There are plenty of places in London with big screens tuned into the tennis.
Granary Square – Catch the train to Kings Cross, with your deck chair in tow and get comfy right on the canal side - perfect if you're waiting for the train to Edinburgh or the Eurostar.
Merchant Square – Head to the grassy banks at London Paddington and watch every volley on the big screen.
